Idaho at UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif. (Interstat) — Two teams coming off high-scoring, season-opening victories will meet Friday when the Idaho Vandals face the UC Davis Aggies in a non-conference women’s basketball game at The Pavilion at ARC.

Both teams enter with 1-0 records. Idaho is riding high after a dramatic 87-85 road win over Washington State on Monday. The Vandals’ offense was powered by Kyra Gardner, who scored 26 points, and Hope Hassmann, who added 17 points and four assists. Ana Pinheiro chipped in 16 points.

UC Davis dominated its opener, defeating Jessup 72-35. Megan Norris recorded a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds, while also blocking six shots. Ryann Bennett led all scorers with 21 points in the victory.

The matchup pits Idaho’s potent offense against a stout UC Davis defense that held its first opponent to 35 points. The Vandals will look to Gardner and Hassmann to generate scoring, while the Aggies will rely on Norris’s presence in the paint to control the boards and protect the rim.

Friday’s contest begins a two-game road trip for Idaho, which hosts Walla Walla on Sunday. UC Davis hits the road for its next two games, starting at Weber State on Wednesday.
