Seahawks dominate Cardinals behind early outburst

SEATTLE (Interstat) — The Seattle Seahawks unleashed a first-half offensive explosion and cruised to a 44-22 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in a National Football League contest at a rain-soaked Lumen Field on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

A crowd of 68,723 watched as the Seahawks improved their season record to 7-2, firmly establishing themselves as a force in the NFC, while the Cardinals fell to 3-6.

The game was effectively decided in the opening two quarters, as Seattle built an insurmountable lead by scoring 21 points in the first quarter and adding 17 more in the second. The Seahawks’ offense operated with ruthless efficiency, while their defense consistently harassed Arizona quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

Seattle set the tone immediately, marching 65 yards on the game’s opening possession. The drive was capped by a 43-yard touchdown pass from Sam Darnold to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, giving the Seahawks a lead they would never relinquish. Darnold was surgical in his limited action, completing 10 of 12 passes for 178 yards and that touchdown before the game became a blowout.

The Seahawks’ ground game then took over. After forcing an Arizona punt, Seattle needed just six plays to find the end zone again, with George Holani scoring on a 9-yard run. The first-quarter onslaught continued as the Seahawks capitalized on a short field following another Cardinals punt, with Zach Charbonnet plunging in from 6 yards out to extend the lead to 21-0 before the first quarter had even concluded.

Arizona finally got on the board in the second quarter with a creative play, as a direct snap to receiver Greg Dortch resulted in a 4-yard touchdown run. But Seattle answered every Cardinals score. Just before halftime, Darnold connected with Cooper Kupp on a 67-yard catch-and-run that set up Charbonnet’s second touchdown of the day. Kicker Jason Myers added a 46-yard field goal as time expired in the half to send the Seahawks into the locker room with a 38-7 advantage.

The Cardinals showed some fight after halftime, engineering a 15-play, 77-yard drive that culminated in a 15-yard touchdown pass from Brissett to tight end Trey McBride. Brissett then found Marvin Harrison Jr. for a successful two-point conversion, cutting the deficit to 38-15.

But any hopes of a miraculous comeback were extinguished by Seattle’s staunch defense and ball-control offense. The Seahawks defense recorded six sacks on the day, with Tyrice Knight leading the charge with two. Leonard Williams and Boye Mafe also contributed sacks, while Nick Emmanwori and DeMarcus Lawrence split another. The defensive pressure kept Brissett under duress all afternoon, as he finished 22 of 44 for 258 yards, two touchdowns, and was held to 31 yards on four scrambles.

Myers provided the only scoring in the final period, connecting on field goals of 32 and 34 yards to seal the 44-22 final. Arizona added a late consolation touchdown on a 9-yard pass from Brissett to Harrison.

The Seahawks’ offensive attack was balanced and potent. Charbonnet led all rushers with 83 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries, while Kenneth Walker III added 67 yards on 14 attempts. Smith-Njigba was the top receiver with 93 yards and a touchdown on five catches.

For Arizona, McBride was a bright spot, hauling in nine passes for 127 yards and a touchdown. Running back Emari Demercado provided a spark with 64 rushing yards on just four carries, including a 55-yard burst in the fourth quarter.

The victory completed a regular-season sweep for Seattle over Arizona, having also defeated the Cardinals 23-20 in Week 3. The Seahawks will look to continue their winning ways next Sunday when they travel to face the Los Angeles Rams. The Cardinals, meanwhile, will return home to host the San Francisco 49ers.
