Indianapolis at L.A. Chargers

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Interstat) — The Indianapolis Colts delivered a stunning and decisive 38-24 road victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at a sold-out SoFi Stadium, defying pregame projections and improving their record to an NFL-best 6-1.

A crowd of 71,124 watched as the Colts, installed as 2.5-point underdogs, dominated from the outset, building a commanding 23-3 halftime lead and never looking back. The game’s total points, 62, sailed over the pregame over/under line of 49.5.

Indianapolis quarterback Daniel Jones efficiently managed the game, completing 23 of 34 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns. His primary targets were Michael Pittman Jr., who caught seven passes for 58 yards and a touchdown, and tight end Tyler Warren, who hauled in four receptions for 69 yards and a score.

The Colts’ ground game was equally potent, spearheaded by Jonathan Taylor. Taylor gashed the Chargers’ defense for 125 rushing yards and two touchdowns, including a 23-yard dash on the game’s opening drive. That initial score was set up by a 29-yard connection from Jones to Warren and was capped by a missed extra point, the only blemish on an otherwise flawless offensive performance for Indianapolis in the first half.

The Chargers, who fell to 4-3, struggled to keep pace despite a prolific statistical day from quarterback Justin Herbert. Herbert completed 37 of 55 passes for 420 yards and three touchdowns, but two critical interceptions, including one by Nick Cross in the end zone just before halftime, stifled momentum.

Herbert’s favorite target was tight end Oronde Gadsden II, who amassed 164 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven catches. Veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen also had a strong outing with 11 receptions for 119 yards and a score.

After a first quarter that ended with Indianapolis leading 6-3, the Colts broke the game open in the second. Jones found Pittman for a 4-yard touchdown pass and later connected with Warren on a 5-yard score. A 36-yard field goal from Michael Badgley as time expired in the half sent the Colts into the locker room with a 20-point advantage.

The Chargers showed signs of life in the third quarter. Herbert engineered a 75-yard drive culminating in a 7-yard touchdown pass to Quentin Johnston. However, the Colts responded immediately with an 81-yard kickoff return by Ameer Abdullah, setting up Taylor’s second rushing touchdown of the day. A successful two-point conversion pass from Jones to Pittman extended the lead to 31-10.

Los Angeles answered with another Herbert touchdown pass, this time a 4-yarder to Allen, to pull within 31-17. But Indianapolis again had a response, with Taylor breaking free for a 19-yard touchdown run to make it 38-17.

The Chargers added a final touchdown early in the fourth quarter on a 15-yard pass from Herbert to Gadsden, but the Colts’ defense tightened from there, sacking Herbert three times, with DeForest Buckner recording two of them, to seal the victory.

Defensively, the Colts were led by Kenny Moore II and Cam Bynum, who each recorded eight tackles. For the Chargers, Derwin James Jr. posted a game-high seven tackles.

The Colts, who were given only a 32.5 percent probability to win by statistical models, continue their season next Sunday at home against the Tennessee Titans. The Chargers have a short week to prepare, hosting the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday afternoon.
