San Antonio vs. New York

Preview: Spurs, Knicks Clash in Showdown of NBA’s Top Teams

LAS VEGAS (Interstat) — The NBA Cup final, featuring two of the league’s hottest teams, awaits at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday night when the San Antonio Spurs take on the New York Knicks.

Both teams enter with identical 18-7 records, among the best in the NBA, setting the stage for a high-stakes December battle.

The Spurs arrive riding a three-game winning streak, most recently edging the Oklahoma City Thunder 111-109 on Saturday. San Antonio’s success is built around its transcendent talent, Victor Wembanyama. The 7-foot-4 forward is coming off a 22-point, nine-rebound performance against Oklahoma City and anchors both ends of the floor. He is complemented by a potent backcourt of Devin Vassell and De’Aaron Fox, who each scored 22 points in the win over the Thunder.

However, they face a Knicks squad that has been nearly unstoppable, winning nine of its last 10 games. New York’s engine is All-Star guard Jalen Brunson, who is in the midst of a spectacular offensive run. He is averaging 29.4 points and 6.4 assists over his last 10 contests, including a 40-point, eight-assist outburst in a 132-120 victory over Orlando on Saturday. Brunson’s backcourt partner, Donte DiVincenzo, and frontcourt stars Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby provide a balanced and formidable attack.

The game features a compelling stylistic clash: San Antonio’s length and defensive versatility, led by Wembanyama’s shot-blocking, against New York’s relentless, Brunson-driven offense and physical defense. The Knicks have scored at least 113 points in eight consecutive games.

This contest is the first of a home-and-home set between the teams this season. They will meet again in San Antonio on New Year’s Eve.

Tuesday’s winner will claim sole possession of the NBA’s best record, adding early-season significance to a potential Finals preview.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST at Madison Square Garden.
