Dallas vs. San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (Interstat) — The San Antonio Spurs, boasting the NBA’s best record, will look to continue their dominant season when they host the struggling Dallas Mavericks on Friday night at Frost Bank Center.

The Spurs (60-20) enter the contest having won 14 of their last 15 games, including a 115-102 victory over Philadelphia on Monday. Their lone loss in that stretch was a narrow 136-134 defeat in Denver. San Antonio has been led by the stellar play of guard Stephon Castle, who is averaging a near triple-double in his last 10 games. He recorded a triple-double of 19 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists against the 76ers.

Conversely, the Mavericks (25-54) have lost eight of their last ten, most recently falling 116-103 to the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday. Forward-center Marvin Bagley has been a bright spot, averaging 11.4 points and 6.1 rebounds over that span, including a 21-point, 9-rebound performance in the loss to the Clippers.

The season series has been decisively in San Antonio’s favor. The Spurs have won all three meetings this season, including a 138-125 victory in the most recent matchup on Feb. 7. San Antonio’s average margin of victory in those games is 19.7 points.

San Antonio’s supremacy is reflected in the standings, as they have already clinched the top seed in the Western Conference. Dallas, long eliminated from playoff contention, is playing for pride and evaluation ahead of the offseason.

The Spurs’ balanced attack, featuring Castle alongside stars like Victor Wembanyama, presents a formidable challenge for a Mavericks defense that has allowed an average of 126.3 points over its last ten games. Dallas will need a significant offensive outburst from Bagley and rookie forward Cooper Flagg, who scored 25 points against the Clippers, to keep pace.

The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. CDT. San Antonio will host Denver on Sunday, while Dallas returns home to face Chicago.
