Athletics vs. Toronto Blue Jays

OAKLAND, Calif. (Interstat) — The Athletics will open their 2026 season on the road Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre, with both clubs looking to set a new tone after disappointing finishes to last year.

The game marks the first for both teams since last fall. The Athletics concluded a difficult 2025 campaign with a 9-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Sept. 28. The Blue Jays’ last action was a longer, more recent postseason exit, falling 5-4 in 11 innings to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a playoff game on Nov. 1.

Friday’s opener begins a three-game series in Toronto. The Athletics will continue a season-opening, 10-game road trip with three games in Atlanta next week before hosting the Houston Astros for their home opener on April 3. Following the weekend set with Oakland, the Blue Jays will host the Colorado Rockies for three games before embarking on a road trip to Chicago.

Sportsbooks list the Blue Jays as pregame favorites with a -1.5 run spread. The over/under for total runs scored is set at 8.5.

Projected starting pitchers were not announced by club officials, but the matchup will feature two lineups seeking early momentum. The Athletics aim to improve upon an offense that was stifled in their last outing, while the Blue Jays hope to carry the competitive energy from their extended playoff battle into a new season.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. EDT. The series continues Saturday and Sunday before the clubs part ways.
