Seattle 2, at Toronto 6

Sunday, October 19, 2025 · Final · Championship Series Game 6 (Tied 3-3)

Seattle Mariners at Toronto Blue Jays

TORONTO (Interstat) — Facing elimination and backed by a raucous home crowd, the Toronto Blue Jays delivered a commanding performance Sunday to force a decisive Game 7 in their American League playoff series.

The Blue Jays defeated the Seattle Mariners 6-2 in Game 6 before 44,764 fans at Rogers Centre, tying the best-of-seven series at three games apiece. The win sets up a winner-take-all finale Monday in Toronto.

Rookie right-hander Trey Yesavage earned the victory for Toronto, navigating 5 2/3 innings while allowing two runs on six hits and striking out seven. He improved to 3-1 this season. Seattle’s Logan Gilbert was tagged with the loss, surrendering five runs, four earned, on eight hits over four innings. His record fell to 7-7.

Toronto’s offense was powered by right fielder Addison Barger, who provided the game’s biggest swing with a two-run homer in the third inning. Barger finished the day 2 for 3 with three RBIs, also driving in the game’s first run with a single in the second inning.

The Blue Jays seized control early, capitalizing on Seattle’s defensive miscues in the second inning. A fielding error by center fielder Julio Rodríguez and a subsequent error by third baseman Eugenio Suárez set the table. Barger’s single scored Daulton Varsho, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa followed with another single to plate Ernie Clement, giving Toronto a 2-0 lead.

An inning later, Barger extended the lead. After Clement led off with a triple, Barger launched a fly ball to right-center field for a two-run homer, pushing the advantage to 4-0.

Toronto added single runs in the fifth and seventh innings. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. led off the fifth with a solo home run, his sixth of the postseason. In the seventh, a bases-loaded walk to Barger forced in another run.

Seattle, which managed seven hits total, broke through against Yesavage in the sixth inning. Josh Naylor launched a solo home run to right field, and after a Randy Arozarena single, Suárez drove him in with a line-drive single to cut the deficit to 5-2. Yesavage was then relieved by Jeff Hoffman, who escaped the inning and went on to pitch two perfect frames, striking out four.

The Mariners’ bullpen, including Eduard Bazardo and Carlos Vargas, provided scoreless relief to keep the game within reach, but the Toronto bullpen was flawless. Following Hoffman, Louis Varland recorded 1 1/3 scoreless innings to close out the victory.

The Mariners, who now hold a 96-77 overall record, will turn to their season in Monday’s finale. The Blue Jays, at 100-72, will have a chance to advance with the series and their season on the line. The game time was 2 hours, 51 minutes.
