SEATTLE (Interstat) — Eugenio Suárez hit a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning, propelling the Seattle Mariners to a 6-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 5 of their playoff series on Friday night at T-Mobile Park. The win gives the Mariners a 3-2 series lead.

With the score tied 2-2, Suárez connected for his second homer of the game, a towering shot to right field that scored Jorge Polanco, Josh Naylor and Randy Arozarena. The blast came after Cal Raleigh tied the game with a leadoff homer earlier in the inning.

Gabe Speier earned the win in relief for Seattle. Kevin Gausman was strong in a no-decision for Toronto, allowing one run over 5 2/3 innings. The series shifts to Toronto for Game 6 on Sunday.
