Detroit 2, at Seattle 3

Sunday, October 5, 2025 · Final · Championship Series Game 2 (Tied 1-1)

Detroit Tigers at Seattle Mariners

SEATTLE (Interstat) — The Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners will turn to their aces in a pivotal Game 2 of their American League playoff series Sunday at T-Mobile Park.

After the teams played to a scoreless tie in Saturday’s opener, the series remains up for grabs. The Mariners, who won 90 games during the regular season, hold home-field advantage over the 89-win Tigers.

The marquee pitching matchup features Detroit left-hander Tarik Skubal (14-6) against Seattle right-hander Luis Castillo (11-8). Skubal has been the Tigers’ most consistent starter, while Castillo brings veteran playoff experience to the mound for the Mariners.

Seattle dominated the regular-season series, winning five of seven meetings. Most notably, the Mariners swept a three-game set in Detroit from July 11-13, outscoring the Tigers 35-14. However, the Tigers took two of three in Seattle to open the season back in March.

Detroit arrives with momentum after closing the regular season with a 6-3 victory at Cleveland on Thursday, where their bullpen delivered 4 1/3 scoreless innings. Seattle, meanwhile, was swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers in its final regular-season series, scoring just one run in Sunday’s finale.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Mariners are projected to even the series with a 7-4 victory. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. PDT.
