Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers

MILWAUKEE (Interstat) — A heated National League Central rivalry reaches the postseason stage when the Milwaukee Brewers host the Chicago Cubs in Game 1 of their playoff series on Saturday evening at American Family Field.

The division champion Brewers (97-65), who won the season series 7-6, enter with home-field advantage. The Cubs (94-71), who secured a wild-card spot, are looking to start the best-of-five series with a crucial road victory.

The teams split a four-game series in Chicago in August, with the Brewers taking the finale 4-1 on Aug. 21. Overall, the matchups have been unpredictable, featuring blowouts like the Cubs’ 10-0 win on May 2 and the Brewers’ 7-0 victory on Aug. 18.

Chicago arrives in Milwaukee after taking three of four from the San Diego Padres to end the regular season, including a 3-1 win on Thursday. First baseman Michael Busch, who homered in that victory, will be a key bat in the Cubs’ lineup.

Milwaukee closed its season with a 4-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Sept. 28. Catcher Danny Jansen provided a late power surge with a home run in that contest.

Despite the Brewers being installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5, Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-4 win for the Cubs. The over/under is set at 7 runs. First pitch is scheduled for under clear skies with a game-time temperature of 84 degrees.
