Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees

NEW YORK (Interstat) — The American League Division Series shifts to Yankee Stadium on Thursday night for a pivotal Game 3 between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees, with the longtime rivals locked in another tense October battle.

The series is tied 1-1 after the teams split the first two games in Boston. The Red Sox evened the series with a 3-1 victory on Tuesday behind a dominant pitching performance from Garrett Crochet, who struck out 11 over 7 2/3 innings. Alex Bregman provided key offensive support with two hits and an RBI.

Boston, which finished the regular season 90-73, has shown it can win in the Bronx, taking two of three games here just last week. However, the 94-win Yankees, who clinched the AL East, have been strong at home and are projected by Interstat’s game simulator to outslug the Red Sox in a 7-6 final.

The season series has been remarkably even, with each team winning six of the 12 matchups prior to the playoffs. Games have varied from low-scoring pitchers’ duels to offensive shootouts, including a 12-1 Red Sox win in August and a 9-6 Yankees victory in June.

First pitch is scheduled for 8:07 p.m. EDT under clear skies with a game-time temperature of 66 degrees. The winner will take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series.
