Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees

NEW YORK (Interstat) — The American League Division Series begins Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium with the New York Yankees hosting the Boston Red Sox in the latest chapter of their storied rivalry.

The Yankees (94-68), who won the season series 10-9, enter as the favorites after securing home-field advantage with a superior regular-season record to the Red Sox (89-73). Game 1 is scheduled for a 72-degree, clear evening in the Bronx.

Boston arrives after taking two of three from the Detroit Tigers to close the season, including a 4-3 win Sunday. New York also closed strong, winning its final six series and earning a 3-2 victory over Baltimore on Sunday, powered by two home runs from Ben Rice.

The season series was tightly contested, with the Yankees winning the final regular-season meeting between the clubs 5-3 on Sept. 13 after the Red Sox had taken the series opener. Boston won a high-scoring affair 12-1 in August, while New York countered with a 7-2 victory the following day.

A statistical projection from Interstat forecasts a potential offensive showdown, predicting a 7-6 Yankees victory. The pregame betting line favors New York by 1.5 runs with an over/under of 7.

The winner of this best-of-five series will advance to the American League Championship Series. Games 2 and 3, if necessary, are also scheduled for Yankee Stadium on Wednesday and Thursday.
