Baltimore Orioles at Houston Astros

HOUSTON (Interstat) — The Baltimore Orioles and Houston Astros conclude their four-game series Sunday evening at Daikin Park, with both teams seeking to climb above .500 in a matchup of sub-.500 clubs.

Baltimore (48-51) has won the first two games of the set, including a 4-2 victory in 11 innings Saturday. The Orioles can complete a sweep of a series in Houston for the first time since 2021. The Astros (47-53) have dropped three straight overall after losing 10 of their previous 17.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. CDT with a forecast of 95 degrees and partly cloudy skies.

Left-hander Trevor Rogers takes the mound for Baltimore having won four consecutive starts. The lefty is 7-6 with a 3.54 ERA and has been particularly sharp in his past two outings, allowing one earned run over 12 1/3 combined innings while striking out 12. In his most recent start July 9 against the Chicago Cubs, Rogers went 6 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and one earned run with eight strikeouts in a 4-2 win — the same line he posted Saturday in the series opener against Houston.

Rogers has not lost since May 20.

Houston counters with right-hander Spencer Arrighetti, who has struggled in his last two starts, surrendering eight earned runs in each. The rookie’s most recent outing July 8 at Washington lasted just four innings, with seven hits and eight earned runs allowed. He did, however, throw five effective innings July 3 against Tampa Bay, allowing one hit and one earned run while striking out six.

Arrighetti is 2-7 with a 5.73 ERA.

Baltimore’s offense has produced 13 runs in the first two games of the series and has won 10 of its past 14 contests. Houston has scored six runs during its three-game skid.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-4 Baltimore victory. The Orioles are a minus-1.5 favorite on the run line, and the over-under is 8.

The series finale marks the last game before the All-Star break for both clubs. Baltimore opens a three-game road trip Monday at Boston, while Houston returns home to host Miami.

Neither team has announced lineup changes for Sunday.
