Colorado Rockies at Los Angeles Dodgers

LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — The National League West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers host the last-place Colorado Rockies on Tuesday at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers (59-32) lead the division by a comfortable margin. The Rockies (37-54) are in last place, 22 games back. A game Monday was postponed.

Right-hander Emmet Sheehan is a player to watch for the Dodgers. In his last start July 5 against San Diego, a 5-2 loss, Sheehan allowed one earned run on three hits over 4 1/3 innings with five strikeouts. He had a 4-2 win June 28 at San Diego, going five innings and allowing one run.

For Colorado, reliever Jordan Romano is a key arm. He threw a scoreless inning Sunday in a 7-6 win over San Francisco, striking out two. He also pitched a scoreless frame in a 4-6 loss to the Giants on July 4.

The Dodgers have dominated the season series. They won four of the five previous meetings, including a three-game sweep May 25-27 at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers won 15-6 on May 26. The Rockies took one game in April, a 9-6 win at Coors Field.

Colorado enters after splitting a four-game series with San Francisco. The Rockies won the finale 7-6 on Sunday. Third baseman Kyle Karros hit a three-run homer. Right-hander Tanner Gordon got the win despite allowing five earned runs in five innings.

The Dodgers lost two of three to San Diego following a three-game sweep of the Padres. Right-hander Jack Dreyer and left-hander Paul Gervase each threw scoreless relief innings Sunday.

Los Angeles has the second-best record in the NL. The Rockies have the second-worst in the league.

The betting line favors Los Angeles by 1.5 runs, with the over/under set at 9 total runs. A game simulator projects a 7-5 Dodgers victory.

First pitch is 7:10 p.m. PDT.

The Dodgers continue the series Wednesday before a road trip to Arizona and the New York Yankees. The Rockies travel to San Francisco after the series.
