Cleveland Guardians at Minnesota Twins

MINNEAPOLIS (Interstat) — The Cleveland Guardians visit the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night at Target Field, with first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m. CDT under partly cloudy skies and a temperature of 82 degrees. The matchup features two American League Central rivals separated by three games in the standings, with Cleveland (47-44) holding a slim edge over Minnesota (44-47).

Cleveland enters on a two-game losing streak after dropping a 7-6 decision to the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. Right fielder Chase DeLauter went 2 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs in that loss, continuing a productive stretch. Over his last four games, DeLauter is 6 for 19 with two home runs and five RBIs, and he is batting .400 (10 for 25) in his last seven contests dating to June 28.

Minnesota is coming off a 6-1 victory at the New York Yankees on Sunday, snapping a two-game skid. Right-hander Joe Ryan was dominant in that start, throwing seven innings of three-hit, shutout ball with nine strikeouts. Ryan, who will start Tuesday on regular rest, has been inconsistent this season. In his last outing, he allowed six earned runs over four innings at Houston on June 30, but he also threw five shutout innings with seven strikeouts at Texas on June 18.

The teams last met May 8-10 in Cleveland, with Minnesota taking two of three. The Twins won the series opener 6-4, then dropped the middle game 6-4 before winning the finale 5-4.

Minnesota is a -1.5 run favorite, according to Interstat, with an over/under of 8.5 runs. The Interstat game simulator projects a 6-5 Twins victory.

Following Tuesday’s game, the teams continue their four-game series Wednesday and Thursday at Target Field. Cleveland then travels to Miami for a three-game weekend series, while Minnesota hosts the Los Angeles Angels for three games. The clubs meet again July 20-21 in Cleveland.

The game will be broadcast on Bally Sports North and Bally Sports Great Lakes, with radio coverage on WCCO 830 AM and WTAM 1100 AM.
