Brewers’ Three-Run Seventh Tops Diamondbacks 3‑2

PHOENIX (Interstat) — Jake Bauers hit a two-run homer and Joey Ortiz added an RBI single in a three-run seventh inning Sunday afternoon, carrying the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

The Brewers improved to 55-33 while the Diamondbacks fell to 44-45. Drew Rom, who recorded two outs with a strikeout in the seventh, earned his first win. Trevor Megill worked a scoreless ninth for his 13th save.

Arizona took a 1-0 lead in the first when Corbin Carroll doubled home Geraldo Perdomo, who had three hits. Milwaukee’s rally in the seventh began with Bauers’ 16th homer, and Ortiz’s single made it 3-1. The Diamondbacks answered in the bottom half with a run on a forceout by Gabriel Moreno, but that was all they could manage.

Eduardo Rodriguez allowed two earned runs on five hits over six innings with three strikeouts, taking the loss. Brandon Sproat tossed four innings of one-run ball for Milwaukee, and four Brewers relievers combined for four scoreless frames. Attendance was 24,728. Time of game was 2:52.
