San Francisco Giants at Miami Marlins
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — The Miami Marlins look to complete a three-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants on Sunday evening at loanDepot park, where a potential rainstorm could intervene in the series finale.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. under a forecast calling for 91-degree temperatures and rain.
Miami (39-38) has won the first two contests of this set, taking a 4-3 decision Friday afternoon before rolling to a 6-3 victory Saturday. The Marlins have won four of their past five games overall and sit above .500 for the season.
San Francisco (31-45) has dropped four straight and continues to struggle on the road. The Giants have lost nine of their last 11 away from home.
Right-hander Logan Webb (4-4, 3.42 ERA) is scheduled to start for San Francisco. Webb has been the Giants’ most consistent starter, but he will be seeking his first win since June 7. He has received two or fewer runs of support in four of his past six outings.
Miami’s starter had not been announced, but the bullpen is well-rested after its work Saturday.
Player to watch: Casey Schmitt. The Giants left fielder has been on a tear, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs in Saturday’s loss. Over his last six games, Schmitt is 12-for-23 (.522) with three homers and five RBIs. He has hit safely in eight of his past nine contests.
Player to watch: Max Meyer. The Marlins right-hander earned the win Saturday, allowing two earned runs on seven hits over five innings with seven strikeouts. Meyer has won four consecutive decisions and boasts a 2.77 ERA over his last six starts.
San Francisco has been installed as a minus-1.5 run favorite, according to BetMGM Sportsbook. The over/under is 7.5 runs. The game simulator projects a 6-5 Marlins victory.
Webb will need to navigate a Miami lineup that has produced 14 runs over the first two games of this series. The Marlins are 8-4 in June and have been particularly strong at home.
Following this series, Miami opens a three-game set Monday against the Texas Rangers at loanDepot park. The Giants return home Tuesday to face the Athletics.
