San Francisco Giants at Miami Marlins

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — The Miami Marlins and San Francisco Giants will continue their four-game series at loanDepot Park under steamy conditions Saturday evening, with first pitch set for 7 p.m. EDT and a forecast of 90 degrees and cloudy.

Miami (37-38) enters the game with a chance to climb to .500 for the first time since early May. The Marlins are projected as 1.5-run favorites, and the over/under for the game is set at 7.5 runs. San Francisco (31-43) is trying to snap out of a stretch that has seen it lose six of its last nine games.

Outfielder Kyle Stowers has been the catalyst for Miami’s offense. He went 4-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs in the Marlins’ 12-4 rout of Philadelphia on Wednesday, then added a key hit in Friday’s 1-1 tie with the Giants. Over his last 10 games, Stowers has driven in 12 runs while batting .321.

For San Francisco, second baseman Luis Arraez remains the most consistent hitter. Arraez homered and drove in four runs Wednesday in a 7-5 win over Atlanta, and he has hits in nine of his past 10 games, batting .333 over that span with nine RBIs. He entered the series with a career .300 average against Miami, a team he once played for.

The Giants won the season’s first series between the clubs, taking two of three in San Francisco from April 24-26. Miami won Friday’s opener, 1-1 in a game shortened by rain. The Marlins have won four of the past six meetings overall.

Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara worked six innings Wednesday, allowing two earned runs while striking out six. For San Francisco, Carson Whisenhunt lasted five innings Wednesday, giving up six hits and two earned runs.

Saturday’s projected outcome from Interstat’s game simulator favors Miami, 6-5. Both bullpens have been taxed, with the teams set to face off again Sunday before the Giants head home to face the Athletics on Tuesday. Miami will host Texas on Monday.
