Milwaukee Brewers at Atlanta Braves

(Interstat) — SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — The Milwaukee Brewers and Atlanta Braves, two teams with the best records in the National League, open a three-game series Friday night at Truist Park with first place at stake.

Milwaukee (45-27) and Atlanta (46-27) sit atop the NL Central and NL East standings, respectively, separated by a half-game. The forecast calls for 72-degree temperatures with rain.

Shane Drohan is scheduled to start for the Brewers. The left-hander took the loss in his most recent outing Thursday, allowing one earned run on three hits over five innings in a 4-2 defeat to Cleveland. Drohan threw five or more innings in four of his past seven appearances, with two wins to his credit over that span.

Carlos Carrasco is expected to take the mound for Atlanta. The right-hander also was tagged with a loss Wednesday against San Francisco, yielding two earned runs on four hits over four innings in a 7-5 defeat. Carrasco has struggled recently, recording a loss in each of his past three decisions.

Milwaukee and Atlanta split their most recent series. The Brewers lost the finale of a three-game set with the Guardians 4-2 on Thursday. The Braves dropped the final two games of their series with the Giants, falling 7-5 on Wednesday.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-4 Milwaukee victory.

The teams continue the series Saturday and Sunday before Milwaukee travels to Cincinnati for a three-game set beginning Monday. Atlanta heads to San Diego for a three-game series starting Monday.
