Milwaukee Brewers at Athletics
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Brewers, owners of the best record in the National League, visit the Athletics on Tuesday night in a matchup of two teams riding hot streaks.
First pitch at Sutter Health Park is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. PDT.
Milwaukee (40-23) has won five straight games after sweeping the Colorado Rockies over the weekend, outscoring them 28-12. The Brewers send left-hander J.T. Ginn (3-3, 4.10 ERA) to the mound. Ginn is seeking his second consecutive win after allowing three earned runs over six innings in a no-decision against San Francisco on June 2.
Left-hander Robert Gasser (0-2, 5.40 ERA) is also listed as a probable for Milwaukee.
Oakland (31-34) swept the Houston Astros on the road, capped by a 5-0 shutout Sunday. The Athletics counter with left-hander Gage Jump, who has been dominant over his past two outings. Jump pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings against Houston, allowing three hits and striking out three. In his previous start, he worked seven innings, allowing one earned run in a win at Chicago.
Catcher Gary Sanchez has been a key contributor for Milwaukee. In Sunday’s 12-4 win, Sanchez went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. He is 3-for-12 over his past three games.
First baseman Nick Kurtz and designated hitter Brent Rooker powered the offense in Houston. Rooker went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs on Sunday; Kurtz added a homer.
Milwaukee is 1-0 against this season after Monday’s 1-0 win in the series opener. The Interstat game simulator projects a 7-4 Brewers victory.
The Brewers continue their road trip Wednesday before returning home Friday for a three-game series against Philadelphia. The Athletics host Colorado beginning Friday.
Sanchez, who has 13 home runs this season, is a player to watch for Milwaukee. Jump, who has a 3.12 ERA over his past three starts, is a key figure for Oakland’s rotation.
