New York Yankees at Milwaukee Brewers

MLB PREVIEW

MILWAUKEE (Interstat) — The New York Yankees and Milwaukee Brewers conclude their three-game series Sunday evening at American Family Field, with the Brewers seeking a sweep after winning the first two contests by a combined 10-3 margin.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. CDT under cloudy skies and 67-degree temperatures.

The Yankees (26-14) will start right-hander Logan Henderson (0-1, 3.60 ERA), making his fourth appearance of the season. Henderson has struggled to find consistency, allowing four earned runs over 7 2/3 innings across his first two big league outings. New York enters having lost three of its past four games after dropping a 4-3 decision in 10 innings Saturday.

Milwaukee (21-16) counters with right-hander Chad Patrick, who has been used primarily in relief this season. Patrick earned a win in his most recent appearance May 4 at St. Louis, tossing three scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Over his past five outings, Patrick has a 4.26 ERA across 22 innings.

A key player to watch for the Yankees is right-hander Cam Schlittler. Over his past six appearances, Schlittler has posted a 1.98 ERA with 37 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings. He threw six scoreless innings Saturday against Milwaukee, allowing two hits while striking out six. Schlittler has not allowed an earned run in three of his past four outings.

For the Brewers, Patrick will be counted on to provide length. He allowed two earned runs over five innings in an April 30 start against Arizona, striking out five, but has surrendered 10 earned runs over 14 innings in his past four appearances.

Milwaukee has won seven of its past nine games. The Brewers took Friday’s series opener 6-0 behind six strong innings from starter Kyle Harrison, who allowed four hits and struck out six.

New York’s offense managed just three runs over the first two games of the series. First baseman Paul Goldschmidt went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs in Saturday’s loss. The Yankees have scored five or more runs in six of their past 10 games.

The Interstat game simulator projects a 7-6 Yankees victory. New York is installed as a -1.5 favorite on the run line, with the over/under set at 8.
