Milwaukee Brewers at Washington Nationals

WASHINGTON (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Brewers visit the Washington Nationals on Friday at 7:05 p.m. at Nationals Park in the opener of a three-game series. The weather is clear with a first-pitch temperature of 63 degrees.

Milwaukee (16-14) sends right-hander Jacob Misiorowski (1-2) to the mound. Washington (15-17) has not announced a probable starter.

The Brewers enter on a high note after a 13-1 rout of Arizona on Thursday. Catcher William Contreras went 4 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs, part of a 10-game stretch in which he has four multi-hit games and nine RBIs. Contreras, however, has been streaky (Interstat) — he was hitless in three of his previous four contests before Thursday’s outburst.

Washington won 5-4 at the New York Mets on Thursday, snapping a three-game skid. Shortstop CJ Abrams went 2 for 3 with a homer and three RBIs. Abrams has been a catalyst during Washington’s recent surge, collecting hits in five of his past six games and driving in seven runs in his last three contests.

The Nationals swept a three-game series from the Brewers in Milwaukee from April 10-12, outscoring them 18-10. Washington took the finale 8-6 on the strength of a four-run seventh inning.

Milwaukee’s offense ranks near the middle of the National League but has shown explosiveness, scoring 13 runs twice in the past week. The Brewers are 11-7 when scoring first but have struggled in one-run games (2-4).

Washington’s pitching staff has allowed six or more runs in eight of its past 12 games. The Nationals are 5-12 when their opponent scores first but have held opponents to three runs or fewer in three of their past five contests.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-3 Washington victory. However, Interstat’s ELO system gives Milwaukee a 63.9 percent probability of winning. The Brewers are a -1.5 run-line favorite, with the over/under set at 8.5 runs.

Following this series, both clubs continue divisional play. The Brewers travel to St. Louis for three games starting Monday, and the Nationals host Minnesota for a three-game set beginning Tuesday.
