Los Angeles Angels at Chicago White Sox

CHICAGO (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Angels visit the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night at Guaranteed Rate Field, with first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m. EDT under a forecast of rain and 66 degrees. Right-hander José Soriano (5-0) will start for the Angels, while the White Sox counter with right-hander Davis Martin (3-1).

The Angels (12-17) enter the game having lost three of four to Kansas City, including a 11-9, 10-inning defeat Sunday. Shortstop Zach Neto went 3-for-5 with two RBIs in that loss, and center fielder Mike Trout homered and drove in two runs. The White Sox (11-17) dropped two of three to Washington, falling 2-1 in 10 innings Sunday despite a strong start from right-hander Sean Burke, who allowed no runs and three hits over 7 1/3 innings.

Angels left-hander Reid Detmers is a player to watch. He took the loss Sunday, yielding three earned runs on five hits over five innings, striking out five. In his previous outing April 20 against Toronto, he allowed four earned runs in six innings. However, Detmers showed dominance April 14 at Yankee Stadium, allowing one earned run on four hits with nine strikeouts over seven innings in a 7-1 win.

White Sox right-hander Sean Burke is another key figure. After Sunday’s scoreless 7 1/3-inning outing, Burke has a 2.25 ERA over his last two starts, striking out seven in 13 1/3 innings. He issued no walks against Washington and limited Arizona to two earned runs in six innings April 21, earning a win.

The teams played to a scoreless game Monday, the first of the three-game series. Chicago has won four of the last six meetings.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-3 White Sox victory. The Angels are a -1.5 favorite on the run line, and the over/under is 7.5. The series continues Wednesday, then the clubs meet again in Anaheim starting May 4.
