Los Angeles Angels at New York Yankees

Preview: Angels at Yankees, April 13, 2026

NEW YORK (Interstat) — A marquee pitching matchup featuring two of the American League’s hottest young arms highlights Monday’s series opener between the Los Angeles Angels and New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

Right-hander José Soriano (4-0, 0.39 ERA) takes the mound for the Angels riding a historic scoreless streak. He has not allowed an earned run in his last three starts, spanning 21 innings, and is coming off a dominant performance Sunday in Cincinnati where he struck out 10 over seven scoreless frames in a 9-6 win. For the season, Soriano has 31 strikeouts against just two walks.

He’ll be opposed by Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler (3-1, 2.25 ERA), who has been nearly as impressive. Schlittler allowed three runs over five innings in a tough-luck 5-4 loss at Tampa Bay on Sunday but had tossed 11.2 consecutive scoreless innings prior to that outing.

Both teams enter with 8-8 records, looking to gain an early edge in what projects as a tight four-game series. The Angels arrive after taking two of three from the Reds, powered by Soriano’s gem and a three-RBI day from first baseman Nolan Schanuel on Sunday.

The Yankees, meanwhile, look to rebound after dropping two of three in Tampa, including a pair of one-run losses over the weekend. Designated hitter Aaron Judge homered in Sunday’s defeat.

Game time weather in the Bronx is expected to be chilly with a temperature of 49 degrees and cloudy skies.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Yankees are projected to win a narrow 5-4 contest. Bookmakers have installed New York as a -1.5 run favorite, with an over/under of 9 runs.

Following Monday’s contest, the teams will meet again Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to complete the series.
