Miami Marlins at Atlanta Braves
ATLANTA (Interstat) — The Miami Marlins, looking to snap a three-game skid, open a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park on Monday.
The Marlins (8-8) arrive after being swept in Detroit, including an 8-2 loss Sunday. Atlanta (9-6) saw its four-game win streak halted in a 6-0 shutout by Cleveland on Saturday.
Miami will send right-hander Eury Pérez (1-1) to the mound. Atlanta counters with left-hander Martín Pérez (1-1), no relation. The Braves’ Pérez has been effective in two of his three starts, allowing one earned run over 9 1/3 innings in those outings. He took the loss Saturday despite giving up two hits and one run over five innings.
A player to watch for Miami is shortstop Otto Lopez. He homered and drove in two runs in Sunday’s loss and is 11 for 38 (.289) over his last 10 games. For Atlanta, all eyes will be on their starter Pérez as he looks to continue his generally strong early-season form.
The Braves have won five of their last seven and took two of three from the Marlins in their first meeting this season in early April. According to Interstat’s game simulator, Atlanta is projected to win a close one, 5-4. Betting markets list the Braves as a 1.5-run favorite with an over/under of 8.5 runs.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature of 73 degrees at Truist Park in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
The series continues Tuesday and Wednesday before both clubs embark on lengthy homestands. Miami hosts Milwaukee starting Friday, while Atlanta begins a seven-game road trip in Philadelphia on Friday.
