San Francisco Giants at Baltimore Orioles
Giants, Orioles Set for Game 2 at Camden Yards
BALTIMORE (Interstat) — The San Francisco Giants look to build on a series-opening shutout when they face the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a temperature around 63 degrees.
The Giants (5-8) blanked the Orioles (6-6) 3-0 on Friday night. San Francisco will send right-hander Logan Webb (1-1, 3.86 ERA) to the mound. Baltimore will counter with right-hander Chris Bassitt (0-2, 5.40 ERA), who is seeking his first win of the season.
A player to watch for the Giants is right-hander Tyler Mahle, who delivered 5 2/3 scoreless innings with six strikeouts in a 5-0 win over Philadelphia on Wednesday. First baseman Rafael Devers, who hit a grand slam in that victory, provides a key power threat.
For the Orioles, outfielder Taylor Ward has been a consistent bat, collecting four hits and two RBIs in Wednesday’s 5-3 win at Chicago. He is 12 for 36 (.333) with six RBIs over his last nine games.
Despite entering the game with a losing record, the Giants have been installed as a -1.5 run favorite by oddsmakers. The over/under is set at 8 runs. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-4 Orioles victory.
The Giants have won three of their last four games after a 2-7 start. The Orioles had won three straight before Friday’s loss.
Following Sunday’s series finale, the Giants continue a road trip in Cincinnati. The Orioles will host Arizona for three games beginning Monday.
