ANAHEIM, Calif. (Interstat) — Jack Kochanowicz rebounded from a rough debut with 5 2/3 dominant innings, and the Los Angeles Angels’ bullpen preserved a one-run lead for a 1-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday at Angel Stadium.

Zach Neto provided the game’s only offense with a first-inning solo home run off Mariners starter Emerson Hancock, who allowed one run over 6 2/3 innings in the loss. Kochanowicz struck out seven and scattered four hits. Four Angels relievers, including closer Jordan Romano who earned his third save, completed the five-hit shutout before a crowd of 44,084.

Both teams are now 4-5. The series concludes Sunday.
