Boston Red Sox at Houston Astros

HOUSTON (Interstat) — The Houston Astros will look to continue their early dominance of the Boston Red Sox when the teams conclude a three-game series Wednesday at Daikin Park.

First pitch is scheduled for the evening. The forecast calls for cloudy skies and a temperature of 84 degrees.

The Astros (3-2) have handily won the first two games of the set, outscoring the Red Sox 11-1. Houston took Monday’s contest 8-1 and followed with a 3-0 shutout on Tuesday.

A player to watch for Houston is right-hander Lance McCullers Jr., who dominated Boston in his last start. On Monday, McCullers Jr. earned the win, allowing one run on four hits while striking out nine over seven strong innings.

Boston (1-3), meanwhile, is searching for answers after a sluggish start. The Red Sox have dropped three straight since a season-opening win. A player to watch for Boston is left-hander Ranger Suarez, who will look to rebound after a tough outing against these same Astros on Monday. Suarez took the loss, surrendering four earned runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.

The pitching matchup features a contrast in early-season results. The Astros are expected to start right-hander Mike Burrows (0-1), while the Red Sox plan to send left-hander Garrett Crochet (1-0) to the mound.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Astros are projected to win 6-2. Boston has been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5, and the over/under is set at 7.5 runs.

Following the series, the Astros embark on a West Coast trip, opening a three-game set at on Friday. The Red Sox return home to Fenway Park to begin a series against the San Diego Padres on Friday.
