Washington Nationals at Philadelphia Phillies

PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies will conclude their early-season series under the lights Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park, with both teams looking for momentum after splitting the first two games.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. EDT on April 1, 2026. The forecast calls for cloudy skies and 78 degrees.

The Nationals (3-1) will send right-hander Cade Cavalli (0-0) to the mound for his first start of the season. He will be opposed by Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sánchez (1-0).

Washington’s offense erupted for a 13-2 win on Monday behind a strong start from left-hander Foster Griffin, who allowed two runs over five innings. Griffin is a player to watch for the Nationals after that performance.

Philadelphia (1-3) bounced back with a 3-1 victory Tuesday. A player to watch for the Phillies is reliever Tim Mayza, who has tossed four scoreless innings over his last two appearances, including two perfect frames against Washington on Monday.

Despite their early records, the Phillies have been installed as a -1.5 run favorite by sportsbooks. The over/under for total runs is set at 8.5. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-2 Nationals victory.

The Nationals’ early success has been fueled by a potent offense, outscoring opponents 34-19 over their first four games. Following this series, Washington will host the Los Angeles Dodgers for three games beginning Friday.

The Phillies, after a season-opening series win against Texas, have dropped two of three to the Nationals. They will embark on a six-game road trip to Colorado and San Francisco starting Friday.
