Minnesota Twins at Kansas City Royals

Preview: Twins at Royals, Monday, March 30, 2026

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Interstat) — Two American League Central rivals seeking an early-season spark will meet Monday when the Minnesota Twins face the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for Monday evening under partly cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 73 degrees.

Both teams enter the series opener with identical 1-2 records. The Twins dropped two of three in Baltimore, including an 8-6 loss Sunday despite a two-hit, three-RBI performance from shortstop Tristan Gray. The Royals salvaged their series in Atlanta with a 4-1 victory Sunday behind a strong start from Seth Lugo.

Lugo (1-0) is slated to start for Kansas City. The right-hander pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing five hits and striking out three against the Braves. He will be opposed by Minnesota right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson, who is making his first start of the season.

Gray, coming off his productive series in Baltimore, is a player to watch for Minnesota. The Royals will look for Lugo to replicate his dominant outing and provide stability to a rotation that saw its other two starters allow six runs each in losses to Atlanta.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Royals are projected to win 5-3. Kansas City has been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5. The over/under for total runs is set at 9.

The game begins a three-game set between the division foes. Following this series, the Twins will return home to host Tampa Bay, while the Royals will welcome Milwaukee for a three-game weekend series.
