Betts’ Blast, Late Rally Lift Dodgers Over Diamondbacks
LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — Mookie Betts hit a three-run homer and Kyle Tucker delivered a go-ahead single in the eighth inning as the Los Angeles Dodgers edged the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 on Friday night at Dodger Stadium.
Alek Thomas drove in all four runs for Arizona with a pair of two-run doubles. His second double gave the Diamondbacks a 4-0 lead in the fourth. Betts erased that deficit in the third with his homer off Ryne Nelson.
The game remained tied until the eighth when Alex Freeland, who homered earlier, scored on Tucker’s single off Kevin Ginkel. Edgardo Henriquez earned the win in relief and Edwin Díaz struck out two in a perfect ninth for the save before a crowd of 51,540. The Dodgers improved to 2-0, while the Diamondbacks fell to 0-2.
