New York Mets at Miami Marlins
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — The New York Mets and Miami Marlins will conclude their season series and their 2025 campaigns on Sunday at loanDepot park, with inclement weather expected for the afternoon finale.
Right-hander Edward Cabrera (7-7, 4.50 ERA) is the probable starter for the Mets (83-78), who evened the three-game series with a 5-0 victory on Saturday. Clay Holmes and Brooks Raley combined for three scoreless innings of relief behind a strong start from an opener, and Pete Alonso homered for New York.
The Marlins (78-83), who won the series opener 6-2 on Friday, will look to close the season with a series win. In Saturday’s loss, starter Eury Pérez struck out 11 over 5 1/3 innings.
The season series is tied 7-7, with the teams splitting the first two games of this set. The offenses have frequently erupted, including a 19-9 Mets win in late August.
Sunday’s game could be a high-scoring affair despite the forecast for 85-degree temperatures and rain. According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Marlins 7, Mets 5.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. EDT.
