Pittsburgh Pirates at Atlanta Braves

ATLANTA (Interstat) — The Pittsburgh Pirates and Atlanta Braves will conclude their three-game series Sunday evening at Truist Park, with both teams looking to end disappointing seasons on a positive note.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature around 82 degrees.

The Pirates (70-90) evened the series with a 1-1 result on Saturday after Atlanta (75-85) took a 9-3 loss in the opener on Friday. In that game, Pittsburgh first baseman Spencer Horwitz led the offensive charge, going 3 for 3 with two home runs and four RBIs.

Pittsburgh will send right-hander Charlie Morton (9-11, 4.50 ERA) to the mound for the season finale. The Braves have not announced a starting pitcher.

Despite their sub-.500 records, the Braves have had the slightly more successful campaign and will look to avoid finishing in the NL East cellar. According to Interstat’s game simulator, Atlanta is projected to win the finale 7-4.

The series has been tightly contested this season, with Pittsburgh holding a 3-2 edge in the five previous meetings. After this weekend’s set in Sandy Springs, Georgia, the Braves took two of three from the Pirates in Pittsburgh back in May.
