St. Louis Cardinals at Chicago Cubs
CHICAGO (Interstat) — The St. Louis Cardinals will look to rebound from a lopsided defeat when they face the Chicago Cubs in an afternoon contest Saturday at Wrigley Field.
The Cardinals (78-82) were routed 12-1 by the Cubs (90-70) on Friday afternoon. St. Louis will send right-hander Michael McGreevy (8-3) to the mound for the 1:20 p.m. CDT start. Chicago’s probable pitcher was not announced.
Friday’s blowout continued a season series marked by dramatic swings. The Cubs have outscored the Cardinals 59-14 in their five victories, while St. Louis’ three wins have been by a combined four runs. The series is tied 5-5.
Despite Friday’s loss, the Cardinals had won seven of their previous 10 games. The Cubs, who are 20 games above .500, have clinched a winning season but are 5-5 in their last 10 contests. In Friday’s win, Chicago’s Seiya Suzuki hit a three-run homer and Michael Busch added a two-run shot.
The game will be played under clear skies with a game-time temperature of 83 degrees. A projection from Interstat simulates a 5-4 Cardinals victory.
