White Sox Outslug Nationals on Montgomery’s Late Homer

WASHINGTON (Interstat) — Colson Montgomery’s two-run homer in the ninth inning lifted the Chicago White Sox to a 10-9 victory over the Washington Nationals on Friday night at Nationals Park, snapping a five-game losing streak.

The White Sox built an early lead with a four-run first inning, aided by two Washington errors, and led 8-2 after five. The Nationals stormed back, hitting six home runs, including three from Luis García Jr. and a three-run shot from Daylen Lile in a four-run eighth that gave them a brief 9-8 lead. Montgomery’s blast off Jose A. Ferrer (4-4) then decided the game. Fraser Ellard (1-2) earned the win and Grant Taylor got his sixth save before a crowd of 33,938.
