Mariners Roll Past Rockies for 17th Win in 18 Games

SEATTLE (Interstat) — Eugenio Suárez hit his 49th home run to match his career high, powering the AL West champion Seattle Mariners to a 6-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Thursday night at T-Mobile Park. A day after clinching their first division title since 2001, the Mariners won their seventh straight. Suárez’s two-run homer off Bradley Blalock (2-6) in the second inning gave Seattle a lead it never relinquished. He added an RBI single in the fifth, raising his career-best RBI total to 117. The Mariners scored two runs in the second, three in the fourth and one in the fifth. Colorado scored single runs in the sixth and ninth innings. The win was Seattle’s 17th in its last 18 games before a crowd of 40,686. Caleb Ferguson (5-4) earned the win in relief.
