Ober, Buxton Lead Twins to Shutout Victory Over Rangers
ARLINGTON, Texas (Interstat) — Byron Buxton launched two home runs, including a three-run shot in the eighth inning, and Bailey Ober combined with three relievers on a three-hit shutout as the Minnesota Twins blanked the Texas Rangers 4-0 on Thursday afternoon at Globe Life Field.
Buxton’s solo homer in the first inning provided the only run until his second blast broke the game open. Ober earned the win, striking out five over six dominant innings while allowing just two hits. The Twins’ pitching staff held the Rangers in check throughout the game, which was played in 2 hours, 29 minutes before an announced crowd of 23,298.
The victory improved the Twins to 69-90, while the Rangers fell to 80-79. Tyler Mahle took the loss for Texas despite allowing only one run over five innings.
