Minnesota Twins at Texas Rangers
ARLINGTON, Texas (Interstat) — The Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers will conclude their three-game series Thursday afternoon at Globe Life Field after Wednesday’s contest was suspended in a 1-1 tie.
The Twins (68-89) have taken two of three meetings so far this week, including a 4-1 victory on Tuesday. Minnesota will send right-hander Tyler Mahle (6-3) to the mound for the series finale. Mahle has been a bright spot in a difficult season for the Twins.
He will face a Rangers club (79-78) looking to get back to .500 and finish its season on a positive note. Texas has lost four of its last five games.
Tuesday’s win was fueled by strong pitching from Minnesota starter Zebby Matthews, who allowed one run over seven innings. Relievers Cole Sands and Kody Funderburk closed out the game with two scoreless frames. For Texas, Cole Winn provided two shutout innings of relief in the loss.
The season series has been marked by offensive explosions, including two games where the Rangers scored 16 runs, but the recent contests have been lower-scoring. Interstat’s game simulator projects a tight, 3-2 victory for the Twins.
First pitch is scheduled for Thursday afternoon under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature of 82 degrees.
Following the game, the Twins will travel to Philadelphia for a weekend series, while the Rangers head to Cleveland.
