Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies

PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The Miami Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies will conclude their three-game series on Thursday at Citizens Bank Park, with rain in the forecast and both teams looking to build momentum for the final weekend of the regular season.

The Marlins (77-80) will send right-hander Janson Junk (6-3) to the mound against a Phillies (92-65) club that has already clinched a postseason berth. First pitch is scheduled for Thursday evening, though weather could be a factor with a forecast of 71 degrees and rain.

Philadelphia evened the series with a 6-1 victory on Wednesday after Miami won a dramatic 6-5 contest in 11 innings on Tuesday. In that extra-inning win, Marlins designated hitter Heriberto Hernández went 3 for 5 with a home run, while relievers Josh Simpson and Tyler Phillips combined for 2 1/3 scoreless innings.

The Phillies have dominated the season series, winning eight of the 13 matchups, including a four-game sweep in Miami in early September. Despite their strong record, Philadelphia has dropped five of its last nine games.

Miami arrives having won seven of its last 10 contests, keeping its faint playoff hopes mathematically alive. According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Marlins are projected for an 8-5 upset victory. However, oddsmakers have installed the Phillies as a 1.5-run favorite, with an over/under of 9 runs.

Following the series finale, both teams will host their final series of the 2025 campaign. The Marlins welcome the New York Mets, while the Phillies host the Minnesota Twins beginning Friday.
