Colorado Rockies at Seattle Mariners

SEATTLE (Interstat) — The Seattle Mariners, clinging to postseason hopes, will look to continue their late-season surge when they host the struggling Colorado Rockies on Wednesday at T-Mobile Park.

The Mariners (87-69) enter the second game of the series riding a wave of momentum, having won 10 of their last 12 games. They are coming off a three-game sweep of the Houston Astros, capped by a 7-3 victory on Sunday where J.P. Crawford drove in four runs and Logan Gilbert delivered a strong six-inning start.

In stark contrast, the Rockies (43-113) own the worst record in baseball and are playing out the string. Colorado snapped a five-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday, fueled by a quality start from Kyle Freeland and a two-run homer from Blaine Crim. That victory, however, is one of just three in their last 15 games.

Tuesday’s series opener was postponed due to inclement weather and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Thursday.

The Mariners’ potent offense, which has averaged over six runs per game during their hot stretch, will be heavily favored against a Rockies pitching staff that has consistently ranked among the league’s worst. According to Interstat’s game simulator, Seattle is projected to win 7-3.

Following this brief two-game set, the Mariners face a critical final homestand against the Los Angeles Dodgers, while the Rockies travel to San Francisco to conclude their season. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. PDT.
