Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals

ST. LOUIS (Interstat) — The National League Central champion Milwaukee Brewers look to continue their push for the league’s best record Saturday when they face the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium.

The Brewers (94-59), who clinched the division earlier this week, have won three straight and seven of their last 10. They are coming off a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Angels, capped by a 5-2 victory on Thursday. Quinn Priester struck out 10 over 5 2/3 innings in that win.

Milwaukee’s offense has been potent, scoring nine runs in each of its previous two games before Thursday.

The Cardinals (74-79), long eliminated from playoff contention, have dropped two of their last three. They fell 6-2 to the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday. Alec Burleson provided a bright spot, homering in the loss.

The season series between these division rivals has been tightly contested, with Milwaukee holding a 7-5 edge. The teams split the first two games of this current four-game set. The Cardinals took the most recent meeting 3-2 last Sunday in Milwaukee, but the Brewers won the series prior to that, two games to one, in June.

According to a Interstat game simulator, the Brewers are projected to win Saturday’s contest 5-3.

Following this series, the Brewers continue their road trip with three games in San Diego before returning home to close the regular season against Cincinnati. The Cardinals hit the road after Sunday’s finale for series against San Francisco and the Chicago Cubs.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. CDT.
