Atlanta Braves at Detroit Tigers

DETROIT (Interstat) — The Detroit Tigers, clinging to postseason hopes, will look to rebound from a series-opening stalemate when they host the Atlanta Braves in the second game of their weekend set Saturday evening at Comerica Park.

Friday afternoon’s contest between the clubs was suspended in the sixth inning with the score tied 0-0 due to inclement weather. It is scheduled to be completed prior to Saturday’s scheduled game.

The Tigers (85-68) enter play Saturday holding the American League’s final wild-card spot but are just 5-5 in their last 10 games. They dropped two of three to the Cleveland Guardians to begin the week, including a 3-1 loss on Thursday. In that game, ace Tarik Skubal turned in a quality start, allowing one earned run over six innings with nine strikeouts.

Conversely, the Braves (70-83) have found a late-season spark, winning four of their last five games. They are coming off a dominant four-game sweep of the Washington Nationals, capped by a 9-4 victory on Wednesday. Designated hitter Marcell Ozuna powered that win, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs.

Despite their sub-.500 record, the Braves’ offense has been potent during this stretch, averaging over seven runs per game in their last five victories.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Atlanta’s hot bats are projected to continue, with a predicted final score of Braves 6, Tigers 3.

Following Saturday’s game, the teams will conclude their series Sunday before heading their separate ways for the final week of the regular season. The Tigers embark on a critical seven-game road trip to Cleveland and Boston, while the Braves return home to host Washington and Pittsburgh.
