Philadelphia Phillies at Arizona Diamondbacks

PHOENIX (Interstat) — The National League East champion Philadelphia Phillies, looking to solidify their postseason seeding, open a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night at Chase Field.

The Phillies (91-62) enter the final stretch of the regular season with the league’s third-best record after dropping two of three to the Los Angeles Dodgers, including a 5-0 shutout loss on Wednesday. Despite the recent setback, Philadelphia has won 10 of its last 15 games. Center fielder Harrison Bader had one of the team’s four hits in the loss.

Arizona (77-76), hovering around .500 and on the fringe of the wild-card race, is coming off a 5-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday. The Diamondbacks had won four of their previous five games before the defeat.

The teams last met in early May in Philadelphia, where the Phillies took two of three games. The series was highlighted by a dramatic, high-scoring finale won by the Diamondbacks 11-9.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Phillies are projected to win 8-5. The analytics firm’s ELO system gives Philadelphia a 55.2% probability of victory. Despite the projections, sportsbooks have installed the Diamondbacks as a -1.5 run favorite. The over/under for total runs is set at 9.5.

Following this series, the Phillies return home for a six-game homestand against the Miami Marlins and Minnesota Twins. The Diamondbacks remain at home to face the Los Angeles Dodgers before heading to San Diego for a three-game set to close out their regular season schedule.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. PDT.
