Miami Marlins at Texas Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas (Interstat) — The Miami Marlins, riding a three-game winning streak, open a three-game series against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field on Friday night.

The Marlins (73-80) are coming off a three-game sweep in Colorado, capped by a 9-7 victory over the Rockies on Thursday. Designated hitter Liam Hicks led the offense, going 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs. Starter Sandy Alcantara earned the win, allowing three runs over 6 2/3 innings.

Despite being seven games under .500, Miami has won six of its last 10 games. The club has shown recent offensive life, scoring eight or more runs in three of its last five contests.

The Rangers (79-74), however, present a stiffer challenge as they cling to faint postseason hopes. Texas has dropped four of its last five, including a 5-2 loss to the Houston Astros on Wednesday. In that game, starter Jacob deGrom took the loss after surrendering five earned runs over five innings.

Texas holds a six-game advantage over Miami in the standings but sits several games back in the American League wild-card race. The Rangers took two of three from the Marlins in a series in Miami back in May.

According to Interstat, the game is projected to be close. Its simulator forecasts a 6-5 victory for Miami, while its ELO rating system gives Texas a 59.5% probability to win. Betting markets have installed the Rangers as a -1.5 run favorite, with an over/under of 8.5 runs.

Following this series, the Marlins continue their road trip with three games in Philadelphia. The Rangers will remain at home to host the Minnesota Twins for three games beginning Tuesday.
