TAMPA, Fla. (Interstat) — David McCann homered and drove in four runs to lead the Tampa Tarpons to an 8-6 victory over the Clearwater Threshers on Saturday at George M. Steinbrenner Field. The game, completed in seven innings, was decided when McCann hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning to cap a five-run frame that erased a 6-3 deficit. Hans Montero also homered for Tampa, a two-run shot earlier in the fourth. Clearwater jumped ahead 2-0 in the first and added four runs in the second, including a three-run homer by Jonathan Hogart. Parker Seay (4-0) pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in relief for the win. Austin Breedlove earned his first save with two scoreless innings. Peyton Havard (1-2) took the loss. The Tarpons (48-37) and Threshers (50-35) split the four-game series. Attendance was 2,422. Time of game: 2:13.
