Bisons Rally Past Clippers for Series Split
BUFFALO, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Buffalo Bisons erased an early three-run deficit to defeat the Columbus Clippers 5-3 on Wednesday at Sahlen Field.
Columbus struck quickly, as Cooper Ingle’s two-run double in the first inning and a Petey Halpin RBI single in the second built a 3-0 lead. Buffalo answered with a run in the second on Rafael Lantigua’s RBI single.
The Bisons tied it in the fifth on run-scoring plays from Carlos Mendoza and Yohendrick Pinango. They won it in the eighth, taking the lead on a bases-loaded walk by Riley Tirotta before Lantigua added an insurance RBI single.
Brendon Little earned the win in relief for Buffalo. Columbus starter Daniel Espino took the loss. Jesse Hahn secured the save. The Clippers had just five hits before an announced crowd of 3,321. The game took 2 hours, 50 minutes. Both teams are now .500 on the season.
