Shawnee vs Kaskaskia
Preview: Shawnee Saints at Kaskaskia Blue Devils
CENTRALIA, Ill. (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the Shawnee Saints visit the Kaskaskia Blue Devils.
The non-conference matchup, set for Feb. 11, 2026, features programs with nearly identical records. Shawnee enters at 5-8 overall, while Kaskaskia sits at 4-7.
Both teams are looking to rebound from recent losses. The Saints are coming off a 77-60 home defeat to Vincennes this past Saturday. That loss snapped a brief positive streak that included a 97-92 home victory over Lake Land on Jan. 21. Shawnee’s season has been marked by offensive volatility, scoring 95 points in a November win but also being held under 65 points in three of their eight losses.
The Blue Devils last played on Feb. 4, securing a narrow 64-61 home win over Southwestern Illinois. Prior to that, Kaskaskia showed its own inconsistencies, following a 16-point home loss to Lincoln Trail with a 13-point home win over Olney Central in late January. Defense has been a recurring issue, as the Blue Devils have allowed 89 or more points in four of their seven defeats.
The recent results for both sides highlight a shared challenge: struggling against the upper tier of their region. Each has suffered double-digit losses to Vincennes and Wabash Valley this season.
Wednesday’s contest represents a critical opportunity for either squad to climb back toward the .500 mark. For Shawnee, generating offense on the road will be key after being held to 60 points in their last outing. For Kaskaskia, protecting their home court is paramount; they are 3-3 at home this season.
The game will be the first of two meetings between the Saints and Blue Devils this month. The rematch is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28, at Shawnee.
Following this matchup, Shawnee will travel to face Olney Central on Feb. 14. Kaskaskia will hit the road for a game at Lake Land on the same date.
