Dodge City vs Cowley
Preview: Dodge City at Cowley in Key Junior College Matchup
ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (Interstat) — A quick turnaround and a tight recent history add intrigue to a Monday night men’s junior college basketball clash as the Dodge City Conquistadors visit the Cowley College Tigers.
The teams are set to tip off on Jan. 26, 2026, at Cowley’s gymnasium, just one day after a previously scheduled meeting between the two on Sunday. The Conquistadors (15-6) enter with the stronger overall record, while the Tigers (9-7) look to defend their home court and build momentum.
Dodge City relies heavily on standout guard Rickey Loftin II, who has been on a scoring tear. Over his last six games, Loftin is averaging 21.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest, including a 28-point effort in an overtime loss at Butler. In Dodge City’s most recent outing, a 79-68 home loss to Barton on Wednesday, Loftin posted 18 points and six rebounds.
Cowley counters with forward Roman Miller, who is coming off a 16-point, six-rebound performance in an 84-81 road loss at Barton on Jan. 17. Miller has shown high-level scoring ability, dropping 30 points in a loss at Butler earlier this month.
The most recent head-to-head meeting provides a blueprint for a close game. On Nov. 22, 2025, Dodge City edged Cowley 78-75 at home. The Conquistadors have won four of their last six games overall, though they are coming off a loss. The Tigers have dropped three of their last four, with two of those defeats coming in overtime and by a single point.
Following this matchup, Cowley faces a quick road test at Cloud County on Wednesday. Dodge City’s next game is at home against Cloud County on Saturday, Jan. 31.
