Hawks Soar Past Coyotes in High-Scoring Junior College Affair

HOWARD, Texas (Interstat) — The Howard (Tex.) Hawks dominated the Southern Nevada Coyotes 101-77 in a men’s junior college basketball game Friday night. The Hawks improved to 11-2 while the Coyotes fell to 3-4.

Howard (Tex.) set a blistering pace, scoring 43 points in the first quarter and 58 in the second to build an insurmountable lead. Southern Nevada kept pace early with 35 first-quarter points but was overwhelmed by the Hawks’ offensive output. Daniel Culberson, Terry Copeland and Harouna Sangare led a balanced Howard (Tex.) attack. Drake Watanabe and Ivoryon Cuffee were key performers for Southern Nevada.

The victory extended the Hawks’ winning streak. The teams are scheduled for a rematch later in the season.
