Alameda vs Redwoods
Alameda Cougars Face Redwoods Corsairs in Modesto Tournament Clash
MODESTO, Calif. (Interstat) — The Alameda Cougars look to build on a narrow victory when they face the Redwoods Corsairs in a California men’s junior college basketball tournament game Saturday.
The non-conference matchup at the Modesto Tournament pits teams on different trajectories. Alameda (4-5) evened its record in the event with a 62-53 win at Lassen on Friday. Redwoods (8-5) enters with momentum after a 95-79 road victory over Fresno City on Friday, bouncing back from a loss to Yuba the previous day.
The Cougars will lean on guard Oluwafeoiami Onabote, who is coming off a career performance. He scored 24 points in Friday’s win, following a recent stretch where he averaged 14.8 points over his previous four games. Donte Henderson (10 points, 5 rebounds) and Darius Mason (6 points, 7 rebounds) also provided key contributions against Lassen.
Alameda’s season has been inconsistent, with the team unable to string together consecutive wins since early November. Their tournament run began with a tough 80-79 loss at Merced on Thursday.
The Corsairs present a significant challenge, boasting a stronger overall record and a more potent offense. Their Friday win at Fresno City marked the fourth time this season they have scored 90 or more points. Redwoods has shown resilience, going 3-1 immediately following a loss this season.
According to Interstat’s ELO system, Redwoods is projected as a heavy favorite with a 90.40% probability to win.
The game is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025. For Alameda, it is the final contest of the Modesto Tournament before returning home to host Los Medanos on Dec. 16. Redwoods will travel to face Cuesta on Dec. 19 in its next outing.
